This minimalistic turntable evolves Pro-Ject's Debut line with updated features. Precision computer-controlled milling ensures that the turntable is dimensionally perfect. Each turntable component that is CNC milled to faultless specifications will allow you to yield the maximum sonic performance from your equipment. TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) joints and components prevent unwanted vibrations from being conducted throughout the turntable. Each turntable is assembled and finished by hand in the Czech Republic where the Pro-Ject company is based. They create refined HiFi audio equipment for record collectors and music enthusiasts.
Debut developments
The Debut Pro S is fitted with an upgraded 10-inch S-shaped tonearm with an SME-type headshell socket. The new aluminium tonearm is fitted into a precision milled bearing housing, mounted onto a plate with vertical tracking angle adjustment capabilities. The SME-type headshell socket on the end of the tonearm allows you to easily change your phono cartridge to suit your preference or the type of vinyl you are playing. The Debut Pro S comes equipped with the Pro-Ject Pick-IT S2 C concorde cartridge. The Pick-IT S2 C elliptical stylus warmly transmits the groove oscillations to the tonearm and the cartridge is based on concorde-style DJ carts famous for their low profile and easy setup. The main body of the Debut Pro S is larger and heavier than previous models which help to further reduce feedback and interference.
Minimal noise circuitry and components
Within the Debut Pro S is a low-noise DC motor developed by Pro-Ject themselves. The motor is decoupled from the main body of the turntable to further prevent unwanted vibrations from being transmitted to the pickup equipment. The motor sits flush with the aluminium sub-platter that it rotates with the drive belt, this ensures speed stability and balance. The sub-platter is CNC milled, diamond-cut aluminium and is mounted on a bronzed brushed precision main bearing. On top is the heavy aluminium platter where the record sits, this provides excellent rotational stability and feedback reduction. Inside the rim of the platter is a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) band that absorbs unwanted resonances and reduces wow and flutter. The turntable stands with three height-adjustable aluminium and TPE feet, designed to reduce disturbance from the surface it is placed on.
Flawless control
The Debut pro S is designed to provide an immersive experience for the user and the stripped-back controls employ a hands-on approach to the operation of the turntable. A hidden rocker switch controls the speed difference between 33 and 45 RPM. To play older 78 RPM standard shellac records you can swap the drive belt with a larger round belt that fits around the larger part of the pulley system, speeding up the platter to 78 RPM using only physics. The Azimuth and variable tracking angle (VTA) are adjustable on the tonearm base. You can continuously adjust the tonearm height by loosening two grub screws. You can experiment with tonearm height and stylus angle effortlessly.
