These days, it’s not unusual to see Marantz featured in awards charts and being singled out by industry experts across the world. Every piece is meticulously tuned by Marantz Sound Masters to deliver the brand’s distinctive warm sound—an audio signature proudly dubbed the ‘Most Musical Sound’. It’s a philosophy that has guided Marantz for over 70 years, bringing listeners closer to the full emotion and detail of their music.
What would become a global audio legacy began modestly in 1950s New York, with Saul Marantz—a music lover, amateur musician, and audio pioneer—handcrafting the original Audio Consolette on his kitchen table. Frustrated by the poor performance of available equipment, he engineered a preamp that delivered the clarity and musical nuance he felt was missing.
Since then, the world has been treated to landmark products like the Model 9 Power Amplifier (1960), so refined that its circuitry was adapted by NASA for use in the Apollo Space Program, playing a small but vital role in landing men on the moon; the CD-63 KI Signature (1990), a compact disc player tuned by the late Ken Ishiwata—long-time Sound Master and brand ambassador; and, more recently, Marantz’s CINEMA Series AV receivers (2022), which blend immersive sound with visual elegance.
Marantz is now an international operation, with engineering and design led in Japan at the Shirakawa Audio Works. It’s here that Marantz Sound Masters shape each product to meet the high expectations they’ve built over the years. While their portfolio includes premium reference models for the most discerning audiophiles, Marantz also cater to music lovers looking to upgrade their everyday listening. Models like the CD6007 CD Player and PM6007 Integrated Amplifier deliver flexible performance within their category, and when paired together, they offer a rewarding introduction to the Marantz sound.
From stereo systems and CD players to today’s network amplifiers and AV receivers, Marantz continues to innovate while preserving their heritage of craftsmanship and sonic excellence.
