The R_volution Chassis DIY-X700 Sony Upgrade Kit is designed for Sony UBP-X700 owners who want to rebuild their player into a more serious home cinema component. It keeps the Sony mainboard and optical drive at the heart of the system, preserving the player’s format compatibility, but moves them into a full-width R_volution chassis with an upgraded power platform and more substantial installation options.

Its linear power supply uses an 81W oxygen-free copper toroidal transformer, with Toshiba linear regulation, Lintec LDO regulation, and premium capacitors from Nichicon, Nippon Chemi-Con, and WIMA. This replaces the original switching power supply with a cleaner, more stable design aimed at improving digital audio and video performance. The no-solder DIY process is fully documented, while the included rack ears, larger IR remote, 1m 4K HDMI cable, ground connection, and multi-region power cables make it practical for dedicated cinema rooms and custom AV racks.
