"A robust, stylish cabinet design is matched by an impressive performance bolstered by the latest version of KEF’s Uni-Q concentric driver."
The acoustic ideal of a single point source is closer than ever, with the Uni-Q driver array placing the tweeter in the centre of the midrange and bass cone. This results in a more accurate three-dimensional sound, dispersed evenly throughout your room, and then enhanced by KEF's 'tangerine' waveguide over the tweeter.
The Uni-Q driver is placed in its own sealed cabinet, reducing the load on the cone and, as a result, increasing both clarity and detail while delivering cleaner bass. Driver improvements mean the DC blocking capacitor is eliminated from the crossover, allowing for enhancements midrange clarity, so there is a more natural roll-off between drivers. Clarity is improved with the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) port design on the rear of the speaker, reducing the audibility of the midrange leakage through the port.
The new damped tweeter loading tube provides gentle termination of unwanted rear tweeter sound - improving treble performance - and the crossover has a new low-distortion inductor - providing much cleaner bass. Reproduction of bass instrument nuances is easy too because of new suspension KEF drivers and larger roll surround for cleaner bass at high volumes. Plus, midrange clarity is improved with a new cone structure, and bass quality is enhanced with an enhanced Auxilliary Bass Radiator (ABR) with a new surround.
