The Acoustic Energy AE100 MK2 Bookshelf Speakers are a compact yet powerful pair of entry-level speakers; ideal for small-to-medium-sized rooms or beginner home cinema setups. The Acoustic Energy AE100 belong to Acoustic Energy's 100 Series, which capably achieve high sound pressure levels, despite their smaller dimensions. This is thanks to their 130 mm mid-bass drivers, constructed around an ultra-high force long throw motor system, as influenced by the premium level 500 Series.
Visually, the Acoustic Energy AE100 are not dissimilar from the premium 500 series with 15 mm HDF vinyl veneer cabinets available in a choice of colours. The 25mm soft dome tweeters feature wide dispersion technology, enabling a spatial treble to take your songs to the next level. Moreover, ducts are included to rectify air turbulence issues and enhance bass performance.

The 100 series: innovation from top to bottom
After rigorous redevelopment, the 100 series parades a new design from the ground up. It features high-density fibreboard cabinetry; something unusual for speakers of this price point. Slim magnetic grilles conceal the tweeter and mid/bass drivers and look great in the home. Wide dispersion technology tweeters add depth to your sound while positioned closer to the mid/bass unit for harmonious high and low ends.
Each drive unit is designed in tandem, so the crossover, power handling, and responses are improved. Moreover, distortion is reduced thanks to a tooled vent which expands and promotes smooth airflow.Tweeter
The 25mm soft dome tweeters have been designed alongside the mid/bass drivers to work beautifully together. Wide Dispersion Technology helps to increase the spaciousness of higher frequencies by pushing sound out in multiple directions.
Drivers
130mm bass/mid drivers have been meticulously designed for impressive entry-level sound. They deliver a smooth mid-range and seamless crossover with the 25 mm tweeter. The paper cone driver offers prime fidelity as well as detailed, natural sound reproduction.
Cabinet
The 15 mm high-density fiberboard enclosures are not only unusual for speakers of this price but allow for greater internal volume. This results in larger bass sounds without physically increasing the speaker size. Carefully tuned bracing limits negative resonances - and a rear slot port allows for extra smooth bass extension and versatile placement options in any environment.
