The streaming audio revolution is well under way and the connection between your hi-fi component may be the last place you'd think of upgrading your cables. AudioQuest's Pearl directional Ethernet cable now bridges that gap where audio quality is being lost. Made from the same high quality materials and geometry philosophy that made the Pearl HDMI such a roaring success.

"Changing from standard wire to Pearl introduces more space, less strain and easier flow. The sound opens up like a flower to the sun. Pearl is a good and cheaper choice between switches, or with less expensive equipment."
With the streaming audio revolution firmly under way and leading hi-fi manufacturers releasing music streaming components, it's sensible to ensure all your connections aren't the leaking pipe in your system. The AudioQuest Pearl RJ/E Ethernet cable bridges that gap where audio quality is sure to suffer, the connection from your hi-fi component, NAS drive or laptop PC to your router.
Standard-issue Ethernet cables are fine for transporting a lot of data at very fast speeds, but with cheap plastic connectors and no real thought put into the copper quality the one thing that is bound to suffer the most is audio. AudioQuest's Pearl RJ/E is a directional Ethernet cable made with the same hallmark materials, philosophy, care and attention which made the multi award-winning AQ Pearl HDMI such a roaring success.
At the heart of the cable are Solid Long-Grain Copper conductors, AQ's tried, tested and trusted manufacturing process of drawing through the raw copper ingot at a much slower speed to leave an ultra-smooth surface for a signal to travel. The terminations are an area where signal loss is common, so AQ plate the nickel plugs in a generous plating of pure gold ensuring you'll always achieve a noticeable uplift in sound quality whilst keeping the price agreeable.
Perfect-Surface Copper has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Proprietary metal-processing technology protects the wire’s surface at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion conductor. For over 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of superior metals; yet even we were surprised by this huge leap in performance. PSC clearly outperforms previous AQ metals that cost over ten times as much. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in a conventional cable is the greatest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty, harsh sound. Solid conductors are fundamental toward achieving Golden Gate’s very clean sound.
All audio cables are directional. The correct direction is determined by listening to every batch of metal conductors used in every AudioQuest audio cable. Arrows are clearly marked on the connectors to ensure superior sound quality. For best results have the arrow pointing in the direction of the flow of music. For example, NAS to Router, Router to Network Player.
Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials all absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then later released as distortion. Solid High-Density Polyethylene Insulation ensures critical signal-pair geometry while minimizing insulation-induced phase distortion.
