Key Features
The Bowers & Wilkins HTM6 S2 Anniversary Edition Centre Speaker is the vocalist of B&W's 600 S2 Series speakers, a true team player and a key ingredient for compelling surround sound. Bowers & Wilkins have celebrated the 25th anniversary of the 600 range by revitalising their classic sound, as well as innovating and adopting technologies from the reference 800 series, the chosen speakers installed at legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. The HTM6 S2 has been fitted with a one-inch Decoupled Double Dome tweeter, two five-inch Continuumâ„¢ cone drivers and a newly curated crossover design. Often an afterthought, centre speakers are ideal for enhancing home cinema dialogue and soundtracks. The HTM6 S2 does this responsively, with impressive accuracy for its size, and should not be overlooked.

Now in its seventh generation and after 25 years of innovation, the new B&W 600 series is building on a tried-and-tested legacy. Trickle-down technologies come from their reference level 800 Series Diamond range, the speakers preferred by sound engineers at Abbey Road for their accuracy and precision. With such accolades, Bowers & Wilkins can be trusted for rich performance, even at the more accessible level of the 600 series. Technologies are shared throughout the range, making them a perfectly harmonically matched set.
Ensuring that the HTM6 S2 is a capable, confident team player, Bowers & Wilkins have completely reworked the latest iteration of the speaker. Optimised crossover design is one of the internal changes you won’t notice until you put them to the test, but the new circuitry has been carefully selected by B&W’s sound engineers, including new bypass capacitors originally used in the 700 Series Signature range, as well as new mid and high-frequency capacitors. The result is clearer overall transparency, achieving a closer output to the audio signal.
Whilst the two-way design and five-inch midrange/bass drivers may be capable of supplying the power and detail necessary to match even the 603 S2 Floorstanding Speakers, Bowers & Wilkins understand that a large cabinet can be the downfall of any centre speaker, where the form is the detriment of practicality. To ensure that the HTM6 S2 sits comfortably on a stand or television cabinet, the height has been kept to a minimal 16cm tall and 28cm deep with the grille attached. The finishes are also neutral, a discreet design for movie night.
As with the rest of the series, the HTM6 S2 Centre Speaker features a 25mm Decoupled Double Dome tweeter. Using very thin, lightweight material that can withstand the intense kinetic forces exerted during use, the latest generation of B&W speakers push breakup as high as 38kHz, well above the human hearing range. This, in essence, gives the HTM6 S2 room to articulate its higher frequencies and provide you with a stronger performance.
The main force behind the HTM6 S2 is its dual five-inch midrange/bass drivers. This definitive double act is comprised of technologies first designed for the 800 Series Diamond range, Bowers & Wilkins’ reference flagship. Now, the Continiuum™ cone FST™ drivers are available at a more accessible level. This combination of technologies optimises responsiveness, bringing accurate music and movie sound effects to a much wider audience.
Much like the dimples found on a golf ball, Bowers & Wilkins’ Flowport™ bass-reflex design is dotted to reduce drag as air is forced through the vent on the rear of the cabinet. This diminishes the effects of turbulence on the HTM6 S2’s sound and delivers a smoother bass response, as well as adding a signature flourish to the look of your speaker. The double cylindrical port bung also lets you tune the bass response of the HTM6 S2 to your own taste.
